We are incredibly honored that our project, Backyard Bungalow, has been selected for this year’s AIA Houston Home Tour, taking place October 18-19! This event celebrates the best in Houston’s residential architecture, and we’re thrilled to open our doors as part of the tour.

About Backyard Bungalow

The Backyard Bungalow is a 760-square-foot accessory dwelling unit (ADU) nestled in the heart of the Houston Heights. Thoughtfully designed for the retired sister of the homeowner, this modest home became much more—a shared chapter between siblings, built for daily connection and easy conversation.
Despite its compact size, the bungalow feels spacious and bright with double-height ceilings, playful details, and an abundance of natural light. The smart layout and carefully placed windows offer both privacy and cheerful views, while the home’s common patio creates a perfect spot for morning coffee together.
Hidden from the street yet full of character, Backyard Bungalow is proof that small-scale homes can be deeply personal, functional, and beautiful within tight urban lots.
